Felt and Pine Cone Elves

I think I am falling in love with felt again. Actually, I know that to be true. One reason is the wonderful wool blend and 100% wool felt that is so readily available. My go-to source for wool blend felt is Benzie Design’s Etsy shop. Remember the felt turkey tutorial and the felt pine cone owls? It seems felt and pine cones make a wonderful match, especially when making crafts with kids. Being highly influenced by two of my team members who are Scandinavian, it seems these holiday elves, or gnomes, are a perfect craft for December. For this project I chose 5 felt colors in red, brick, fern, moss and blue spruce. Love that color combo! I found mini pine cones, 1 inch wood beads, and tiny jingle bells at my craft store. With some scissors, hot glue (you can use tacky glue too) and a black and red pen, these little elves came to life. Oh what fun you could have making variations of the elves. Maybe add braids? Generational Stamping - by Jenny Wren

Lovely as a Tree is the oldest stamp set that carries over every year.

I inked it up once and then stamped it three times, called generational stamping. It gives the look of depth by the trees looking like they are behind the front one.

Some glitter in the upper left hand corner and some ribbon at the bottom completes my card. Once I figure out how to make the link tool work, I will supply a hot link in my blog entries. in the meantime, go to sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com to see what the other team members have created for you.

Here is my Triple Layer Card for Sketch Frenzy Friday. it was my turn for a sketch and I choose the triple layer technique.

Love this stamp set and haven't used it nearly enough. #126377 clear or #128442 wood Mixed Bunch stamp set (page 151 in our large catalog.)

You can make a card like this in any size, but I thought I would share the sizes I used in my card to help you get started.

Base layers you stamp on are 2 x 3 1/4; 3 x 4 1/4; 4 x 5 1/4
Color layer behind your stamping after stamped are 2 1/4 x3 1/2; 3 1/4 x 4 1/2; (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 the card base)
